Trans & Non-Binary Awareness: The Basics

Gendered Intelligence is running the Trans & Non-Binary Awareness: The Basics course for us.

About the Session

In this training we:

• Explain what ‘trans’ and ‘non-binary’ mean and describe the diversity of those who might use the terms.
• Introduce key concepts crucial to understanding trans and non-binary people.
• Outline the main legislation relating to trans identities.
• Explore ways an organisation can work towards being trans-inclusive.
• Provide links to further resources and help.

The session comprises around 60 minutes of presentational material and 30 mins interactivity / Q&A. Q&A is  hreaded through the session to take people’s queries as they arise; this enables people to bring the focus of the session onto the key issues that matter to them and particular questions they have.

In the interests of the safety/wellbeing of any trans people who may be participating, as well as Gendered Intelligent staff, we do hold a line around respectful behaviours. We regard as unacceptable:

• Seeking to question, dismiss or ‘debate’ trans people’s existence.
• Personal comment about our trainers.
• Behaviours that disrupt the session or work and/or prevent learning and engagement on the part of others.
