Detail:

PIPOT training aims to equip individuals and organizations with the knowledge and skills to handle allegations and concerns about those in positions of trust who work with adults with care and support needs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Identifying the roles of PIPOT leads in each agency.
  • Understanding the referral process and the coordination needed between different teams and authorities.

Handling Allegations:

  • Procedures for managing allegations, including when to refer to the Adult MASH Team.
  • Importance of documenting the PIPOT process thoroughly.

Risk Assessment:

  • Using tools like the Risk Evaluation template to make informed decisions regarding staff or volunteers.
  • Assessing potential risks to service users and determining appropriate responses.

Referral Process:

  • Detailed steps for referring concerns to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
  • Conditions under which referrals to the DBS are mandatory.

Outcome: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of their responsibilities in handling allegations against those in positions of trust. They will learn to navigate the referral process, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies to protect vulnerable adults.
