Workshop Overview

Sexuality is a profound aspect of the human experience that spans a broad spectrum of topics, often evoking reactions rangingsfrom discomfort and embarrassment to openness and curiosity. Cultural norms, social graces, and our personal histories all shape how we engage with and discuss sexuality. This workshop invites practitioners on an interactive and engaging journey to explore these influences and build genuine confidence in discussing sex and related issues.

Training Aim

This training aims to boost practitioners’ confidence and competence in discussing sexuality by examining personal comfort levels, uncovering hidden biases and barriers, and grounding conversations in both local and national contexts.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Assess their own comfort zones, biases, and emotional responses when addressing sexual topics.
  • Identify personal and professional barriers to open dialogue about sex and child sexual abuse (CSA).
  • Analyse relevant local and national frameworks, guidelines, and policies that inform sexual health conversations.
  • Practice evidence-based communication techniques to navigate sensitive topics with empathy and clarity.
  • Utilise a toolkit of conversation prompts, visual aids, and digital resources to demystify and normalize discussions about sex and CSA.
